iSIMANGALISO WETLAND PARK
THE ELEPHANT COAST

The Elephant Coast has so much to offer.

From the oldest game reserve in South Africa (Hluhluwe-Imfolozi (or Umfolozi) game reserve) to one of the largest estuary in Africa and the splendid coastline of the Indian ocean. The Elephant Coast

The warm water of the Benguela current, ensures swimming and watersports all year round.

St Lucia is boxed in between this ocean and the iSimangaliso Wetland park (previously known as the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Reserve) with its stupendous fauna and flora, endless virgin beaches, an incredible marine life (St Lucia has the highest number of boat based whale sightings of South Africa ! ) and…

Some great scuba diving and snorkeling!

Inland there is the authentic Zululand the Kingdom of the Zulu’s with it’s undulating savanna where time seems to have stood still and Zulu culture and tradition is practised stringently.

It’s here you find some of the best and oldest nature reserves in africa, namely the world famous Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve where the rhino populations of the world were saved from extinction.

Mkuzi, Phinda and many other private reserves are all in a hours drive from our location.

And if that isn’t enough, there’s the Kosibay area, where you can join the Thonga fishermen setting out fish traps in the crystal clear lakes. as they’ve being doing for generations.
